How to make a Chalk Bag

December 7th, 2008 by Derek

I was browsing around the internet this morning looking for odds-and-ends climbing sites with interesting content, when I stumbled upon a site where a climber documented how to make your own chalk bag. I read through the step-by-step guide and the end result was really quite nice.  While I already have a great chalk bag, I would really like to make my own now, and this seems like a great project for a rainy day.  Click the image below to visit Donn Morrison’s step-by-step guide to making your own chalk bag.

PS – I bet these would make great gifts for climbing buddies!

    Hey Ross,

It does look like Donn's site is down. I'm not sure how long it has been like that, but thanks for the heads up. I went looking for some resources for you. I did find the text from Donn's old guide in the Internet Archive (click here), but unfortunately none of the images are available (If I can find the images somewhere, I will try and repost the entire process here).

I also found another resource over at cushman.net, and they ended up with a very nice product in the end. You can check them out here: How To Sew A Custom Chalk-Bag.

Hopefully between those two resources you will be able to scrounge enough information together to make your own!
