4-5 weeks. Lay it out flat in the hot sun. Then stretch it out over your head to make sure it'll be the right size.

I was thinking of using the scrotum from a bull I slaughtered. How long do you think it will need to cure before I can use it?

Javi,

Michelle and I do a fair amount of walking and hiking, but we're not in the best of shape right now. The hike to Camp Muir is certainly tough - quite possibly the hardest hike I've ever done. It's a pretty relentless uphill hike, covering that much elevation change in a mere 4 miles. Aside from the burning calves, you do have to deal with the effects of the higher altitude (harder to breath, so you always feel like you're fighting to catch you breath).

That being said, I think just about anyone can do it if they do it right. Give yourself all day, and take it slow. Make sure you have trekking/ski poles, and get yourself into a good rhythm. Take breaks when needed, take along plenty of food with protein (energy bars, etc) to keep your energy levels up, and you'll be fine!

And wear sunscreen. :P

Hey Derek, what difficulty would you give the climb from 1-10? Looks like a pretty smooth climb, with the worse of it probably being burning shins (and oh, the sunburn).

Awesome video
